Storage Engineer
Job Description:
Synergy One is seeking a Storage Engineer for its client in Tampa, FL. Candidate will be responsible for managing SAN, core servers and VMware environment as well as assisting in managing backups, networking, replication and server builds. The position will report to the AVP IT Ops for the division. We are seeking a self-starter and a fast learner. The role will start working on important projects day 1 with minimal learning time and direction, therefore we are seeking a candidate who have had very recent experience in creating and maintaining large high volume systems and preferably in the financial services industry.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Candidates for this position must have practical experience with the following:
• Five to Seven (5-7) years experience as a senior systems engineer or equivalent technical position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in system design and deployment storage infrastructure
• Business continuity and Disaster Recovery - experience in managing multi site environments
• Production VMware ESX / VSphere experience
• Thorough knowledge of security methods and procedures
• Thorough knowledge and expertise in performance tuning
• Extensive knowledge of emerging technologies
• Skill in clustering, load balancing, monitoring and load balancing technologies.
• Skill in the identification of performance problems and implementation of solutions to correct performance problems
• Skill in conducting tests to newly installed/upgraded software
• Skill in effectively communicating orally and in writing
• Skill in isolating and resolving complex problems and utilizing appropriate diagnostic tools
• Ability to estimate, plan, manage, and communicate activities/deliverables of a mid-size project plan (i.e., a plan that affects a single system or product family and uses multiple resources)
• Ability to analyze information and formulate conclusions and recommendations
• Ability to plan and execute a platform change with minimal disruption in service to clients
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Duties: Candidates' responsibilities include (not limited to):
• Design, deploy and support of highly available and secure SAN solution
• Monitoring and performance tuning of above SAN and applications
• Manages and maintains enterprise VMware ESX infrastructure
• Provides expert assistance and knowledge to the management and diagnostics of proprietary software systems
• Operates as a member of the VM and Storage team, with both an operational and project focus ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of platforms to all environments
• Assist in managing backups
• Develop technical documentation, internal standards and reports as requested by management
• Research, evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to address emerging business and technical needs
• Deliver products within an aggressive timetable.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
