Unix Administrator

Synergy One has an immediate Contract opening for a Unix Administrator with a client in Tampa, FL. Candidate will support multiple IBM AIX and Sun Solaris systems and will be responsible for monitoring and responding to hardware and software problems. Candidate will also be responsible for the following: performing daily UNIX administration, including but not limited to user access, security, system performance tuning, file systems management, installation of operating systems, and software/software patches; interfacing with application developers and SQL/Oracle Database Administrators; and vendor support of large base applications to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. He/She will also install server and hardware software and provide data communications support

The successful candidate will have 5+ years experience with the following technologies: IBM AIX and/or Sun Solaris Solaris8, Solaris9, Solaris 10 HPUX and HPUX 11.0 User creation File system creation Kernel configuration OS Patch analysis OS Patch implementation OSI and TCP/IP protocols

Advanced knowledge of backup solutions Job duties will include but not be limited to: System configuration System maintenance Capacity planning Performance testing and tuning User account maintenance System patch analysis Assist with implementing disaster recovery plan Design and test backup procedures Establish configuration standards and documentation All Candidates with the above credentials are encouraged to apply.
