Description:
Our client is seeking a SQL Database Administrator (DBA). The SQL Database Administrator (DBA) position is a senior operational DBA role focused on the architecture, uptime, performance, and security of the SQL Server 2008 environment. Utilizing the latest technologies and tools, the DBA will work closely with the development staff, business users, and IT management in our dynamic, highly collaborative environment to provide world class database management services for the enterprise.
The responsibilities of this position include the following:
• Provide world class DBA support in the application and operational environment
• Design, implement, and manage database high availability strategy
• Manage database backups and restores
• Improve database security model using proven methodologies
• Participate in development design and planning meetings.
• Review Stored Procedure and Triggers written by development staff
• Tune, write, and debug SQL before release to production servers
• Perform data modeling and script changes to production environment to in accordance with published release schedules
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning solutions to maximize uptime and scalability
• Design and manage database import / export processes used to populate Development and Test databases
• Design and implementation of database replication strategies
• Setup mirroring and log shipping as needed
• Perform new installations of SQL Server databases and manage upgrade process
• Database performance tuning analysis and optimization
• Research problems and recommend corrective actions
• Coordinate with the network administration and development groups to ensure adequate data security and availability
• Plan, design, and implement the database capacity plan
• Manage the deployment of stored procedures, database objects, and SSRS-RDL into the production and data warehouse environments
• Communicate and maintain SQL Server concepts and best practices including SSIS, SSAS
Requirements: The skills, experience, and education required for this position include the following:
• 3+ years of DBA experience with deep Microsoft SQL Server (2005/2008) experience
• Experience using commercial data modeling tool, e.g. Erwin
• Experience using database monitoring tool, e.g. Confio
• Extensive experience supporting large production SQL Server databases in a high availability environment
• Expertise with setting up database replication
• Solid understanding of the principles and techniques used in all phases of database design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
• Solid knowledge of SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS
• Experience with implementing data architecture standards, policies, and procedures
• Experience developing backup and recovery schemes for the database environment
• Experience with the development and implementation of disaster recovery procedures
• Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment
• Self motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Microsoft Visual Studio and Team Foundation Services experience is a plus
• Microsoft SharePoint experience is a plus
